Inspiration - Concept

My project inspired by Sama dance in Sufi ceremony. The concept was having a new experience of smart performance by engaging the audience and providing the opportunity of having their own unique interactive experiences.

The tech part of my project was made of Servo Motors, LEDs, micro controllers (Aurdino) and circuits. The interaction of the users with the mechanical system was implemented through speech recognition.I did the programming in p5js. I used speech recognition libraries to detect some specific words that the user will pronounced as they will read a poem. They are two sculptures which stand on a surface and as the project runs the code's output will be sent to the micro controllers and after processing code in Aurdino, the output will move the sculptures. Also there are some lights what I used them to lighting project's stage.

 

I will ask a user to read a poem of Rumi. As she reads the poem first of all a music will start to play then we will have LEDs lighting, when she read "light" word in the poem. Then the sculptures will start to dance one by one in different styles due to two specific words that the user read them. In fact I will choose 4 words of the poem and define 4 states in physical computing side which was implemented by Arduino. In the first state the music will play playing then in the second state the lighting will turn on and off and in the third one smaller sculpture will start to dance. In the forth one both of the sculptures will dance and after a few seconds only the bigger one will do the performance on the stage.
