Next to Love

Passing the first year in the US and being far from my hometown, Tehran, I had to overcome the
homesickness. Being deep in thought about people who are far from their families, an inspiration for a new project crossed my mind. I designed an app which helps people feel like they are near their beloved ones. The app is called Next to Love.
The aim of this project is receiving an immediate cartoon emoji response customized and built using the real facial expressions of the users. This app could assist people to feel less lonely when they are thousands of miles away from their home. This experience helped me believe in the profound effect of new tools in improving people’ daily lives and helping them to feel more cheerful.

In project's progress I started with taking some picture from myself in different facial expressions. In each of them I tried to express my feeling in my face, in a way that the audience would detect my feeling easily. I laughed. I got sad, angry and shocked and took photo in all that states. After this step I used illustrator for making vertical version of my face.

After that I tried to make vector files from the photos in some applications such as illustrator and Photoshop.

As this step was finished I thought that they were not kind of a cartoon that I thought about. I prefer something more fun which make the user feel excited. As a result I tried to make them in Adobe After Effect 2018 again. This time I simplified them at first and then I worked on the details that were helpful for showing the expressions.

You can find out the progress process visually below and at last there is a video from the prototype of the app.
